Overview

There were 59 submissions for the first FotoEvidence Book Award, documenting injustice in 41 countries. We were surprised and pleased by both the range and power of the work submitted. The world is in a sorry state but dedicated photographers everywhere are working to bring this to light and inspire change. We are proud to publish and disseminate the selected projects, which we feel reveal the courage and commitment of documentary photographers in pursuit of social justice.

The selected projects are on view in the Book Award Galleries and an exhibit of all the projects will be mounted in New York in the fall of 2011 in conjunction with the release of Javier Arcenillas’s book:  Sicarios
